75% of heating networks on the brink: expert assessed whether Ukraine will have time to update the communications.

Most heating networks in Ukraine need repairs - expert
More than 75% of heating networks in Ukraine require urgent repairs, but at the current pace of work, it will take 56 years to replace all problematic sections.
This was reported by the expert on housing and communal services, Oleg Popenko.
According to him, the total length of heating networks in Ukraine is more than 18 thousand kilometers, of which about 14 thousand kilometers need urgent repair.
"Currently, they repair, at best, 250 kilometers every year", - noted the expert.
Popenko emphasized the lack of reliable information about the real state of the heating networks: "No technical inspection has been carried out in any city. Teplocommunenergo does not even know in what condition the pipes are".
The expert also emphasized that the current pace of repairs does not solve the problem due to the limited lifespan of pipes, which is about 50 years. "We will replace these, God willing, little by little, and then we will have to replace the next ones. It becomes a vicious circle," he noted.
There is no systematic approach to solving the problem in Ukraine - there is no state program for the restoration or capital repairs of Teplocommunenergo. "If in energy we have at least some capital repairs, tariff understanding, then Teplocommunenergo is of no interest to anyone. It is a complete collapse of communal services and absolute unwillingness of anyone to deal with it," concluded Popenko.
Let us remind you, earlier Popenko explained why people will have cold batteries in winter.
Also, in Kyiv, they reported on the start of the heating season.
