White House representative Caroline Levitt stated that Ukraine and Russia may be dissatisfied with the peace agreement between them. She also expressed confidence that President Trump could bring the conflicting parties to the negotiating table thanks to his deal-making skills.
Furthermore, the White House hopes for Ukraine to sign an agreement regarding rare earth metals as compensation for the support that the US has provided to Kyiv in the past. This will mark the beginning of a long-term economic partnership that will be important for the recovery of the country after the war, Levitt noted.
According to Agence France Presse, Kyiv has already agreed on the terms of the agreement regarding the extraction of minerals, and the signing could take place as early as this Friday. An unspecified Ukrainian official stated that they are currently working on the details and a visit to Washington is planned for the signing of the agreement.
