Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine

According to the State Border Guard Service, Russian troops in the Sumy direction are ready to attack. DeepState records troop movements and an increase in the 'buffer zone' in the Sumy region, which is located less than 30 km from the regional center.

Among the most affected border communities in Sumy region is Khotyn, which has 14 villages. Evacuation of residents has already taken place, but some villages have been captured by the occupiers. People find themselves at the brink of risk and fear.

Life in wartime conditions

The head of the Khotyn community Mykola Toryanyk explains that the situation in the occupied area is very complicated. Evacuation is currently taking place from Pysarivka and Khotyn, but many residents do not rush to leave their homes. The community borders three districts of the Kursk region, where the situation is also tense.

Toryanyk reports that there is partial occupation, shelling, and clearance of populated areas. Local residents face a difficult choice - to leave their homes or evacuate.

Last autumn, 3,500 people lived in the community, now their number has decreased to 350, mainly in Khotyn and Pysarivka. The people who remain are mainly elderly local residents and those who do not want to leave their homes for various reasons.

Even with constant shelling, many people believe that one can continue to live in the village. This situation leads to difficult choices and poses a danger to all who remain.

Ukrainian troops observe an increase in the threat from the Russian side in the east. Residents of affected communities continue to live in a state of stress, forced to choose between evacuation and staying in their homes, the danger at the border increases.
