Rheinmetall Chief Names Weapon That Could Change the Course of War in Ukraine.

Traditional artillery is a decisive factor in the Russian-Ukrainian war
The director of the German defense consortium Rheinmetall, Armin Papperger, stated that the role of traditional artillery is crucial in the Russian-Ukrainian war. According to him, the supply of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine will not influence the situation on the front.
Instead of missiles, it is artillery ammunition that is the key factor allowing the Ukrainian military to hold back Russian forces. Rheinmetall plans to significantly increase the production of artillery shells at its plant in Lower Saxony, raising the output from 200,000 to 350,000 shells per year. Approximately €600 million has already been invested in the development of this enterprise.
This will make Rheinmetall the second most powerful artillery plant in Europe after the Spanish plant, which plans to produce 450,000 shells per year.
Papperger also noted that building a plant in Ukraine is a more complex task than in Germany due to the bureaucratic obstacles they are currently facing.
Analysis and Context
The statement by Rheinmetall's director Armin Papperger regarding the decisive role of artillery in the Russian-Ukrainian war reveals a new perspective in assessing the situation on the front. He argues that the supply of Taurus missiles does not have a significant impact on the course of the conflict and that artillery is the key factor in Ukraine's defense.
The increase in artillery shell production at Rheinmetall's plant is an interesting fact as it gives Ukraine the opportunity to receive more shells for further combat operations. Additionally, Ukraine's establishment as an important partner in artillery production in Europe demonstrates the support of the international community.
