The Cabinet allowed the military to dispose of ammunition right at the demining sites.

The government allowed the disposal of ammunition and explosive items at the demining site using mobile complexes. It is indicated that this will enable the production of processing products that can be used for the needs of the Defense Forces. Changes to the Procedure for the Disposal of Missiles, Ammunition, and Explosive Substances were approved at a government meeting. The introduced changes establish a legal mechanism for the processing of dangerous and unsuitable ammunition directly at demining sites, said Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
The disposal will be carried out by military units specified by the Ministry of Defense. Ammunition and explosive items will be disposed of by burning, ultrasonic crushing, melting, and burning out explosive substances from ammunition casings. This will allow obtaining disposal products that can be used for the needs of the Defense Forces.
According to approximate calculations, up to 20% of shells and other ammunition do not detonate in the combat zone. Recall, if clearing Ukrainian land after the end of the war by traditional demining methods, it could take a hundred years. Innovative methods could significantly simplify and speed up this procedure. An artificial intelligence platform will use new demining methods and advise on how to effectively clear a specific area of Ukraine from mines.
