In 2024, 71 cases involving electric scooters were submitted to court. The largest fine was imposed on a man who drove an electric scooter while drunk in Odesa. According to 'Glavkom', the 'Opendatabot' service, this is 42% more than in 2023, when 50 such cases were registered. In the first five months of 2025, 17 cases related to electric scooters were initiated.Typically, electric scooter riders become participants in administrative offenses. For example, this year, 13 administrative and four criminal cases were recorded. In contrast to the previous year, when there were 64 administrative and seven criminal cases.The maximum fine for driving an electric scooter in a state of intoxication was imposed on a resident of Odesa in June 2024. The driver, without a driver's license, was caught driving drunk for the umpteenth Time, for which the defendant was fined 34,000 UAH and banned from operating vehicles. In addition, during this period, 17 individuals received fines of 17,000 UAH for driving an electric scooter while intoxicated. Three of them received a ban on driving for a year.In Kyiv, ways to solve the problem of chaotic parking of electric transport on sidewalks, which poses a threat to pedestrian safety, especially for people with disabilities, are actively being considered. Such offenses in Odesa have become more common in recent months, motivating authorities to tighten the rules for using electric scooters to enhance public safety.
