The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the Ukrainian buggy named "Varan" has been codified and approved for supply. This vehicle has great capabilities and is used for various tasks such as transporting personnel, evacuating the wounded, and delivering ammunition. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense.
The "Varan" buggy was developed and manufactured by a Ukrainian enterprise. It has a strong frame that withstands harsh operating conditions. The buggy is equipped with a powerful turbo-diesel engine and an automatic five-speed transmission. Many components and mechanisms of this vehicle are supplied by well-known global automobile manufacturers.
The "Varan" was developed by an engineer with extensive experience in car repair and operation. The requirements were set by the military: speed, maneuverability, ease of repair, and high passability," the report states.
This two-seater buggy weighs just over a ton, yet it can carry up to 500 kg of cargo or tow a trailer weighing up to 300 kg. The fuel tank capacity allows for up to 200 km of movement on rough terrain. The maximum speed of the "Varan" on sand exceeds 100 km/h. During tests, the buggy did not overturn once.
Recall that since the beginning of the year, more than 140 domestic unmanned aerial systems and 33 ground robotic complexes have been put into operation in the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
