NYT: US Defense Secretary had another conversation about strikes in Yemen.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegset established a second chat in the Signal app where he shared details of a military airstrike against Houthi rebels in Yemen.
According to The New York Times, his wife Jennifer, brother Phil, and personal lawyer joined this chat. Hegset shared information about the flight schedule of F/A-18 Hornets directed against the Houthis in Yemen.
He disclosed these same attack plans in a special Signal chat that day, but mistakenly included an editor from The Atlantic, the publication reports. This chat was created in January 2025, even before his official appointment as Secretary of Defense, and was used through his personal phone.
Despite warnings from advisers about the inappropriateness of discussing confidential operations through unofficial channels, Hegset continued to use personal chats for such conversations.
Earlier, new details of the scandalous correspondence in the Signal messenger emerged. In particular, it became known how a journalist ended up in a closed group chat about US strikes in Yemen.
Previously, US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz was involved in a scandal related to the use of the Signal messenger. It turned out he discussed strikes against the Houthis in Yemen and issues of the war in Ukraine in Signal.
Waltz took full responsibility for creating the group chat in Signal and stated that his task was to ensure coordination of all processes.
By the way, the team of the US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz has created at least 20 group chats in the Signal messenger to coordinate work on issues related to Ukraine, China, Gaza, the situation in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
