SUVs and Motorcycles: Drivers Warned of Strict Restrictions.

The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Environmental Policy and Nature Management supported the government bill on changes to legislation regarding the nature reserve fund. Its aim is to preserve the territories and objects of the nature reserve fund. The document is recommended for consideration in the second reading.
Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Svitlana Hrynchuk stated that the adoption of this law is a crucial step in banning the use of vehicles in the areas of the nature reserve fund.
After the document is adopted, the use of SUVs, enduro motorcycles, and buggies will be prohibited for tourists, and access to transport will remain only for the official needs of environmental protection institutions, law enforcement agencies, and other authorities.
The minister emphasized that this approach corresponds to European standards for the management of protected natural areas. Jeeping negatively impacts ecosystems, pollutes soils, destroys vegetation, and poses a threat to wildlife.
The bill also defines the procedure for canceling and changing the protection zones of reserved territories, taking into account coordination with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
'We expect a vote on the basis in early 2025,' added Svitlana Hrynchuk.
Earlier, the Ministry of Environmental Protection assessed the environmental damage from Russia's aggression.
