The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is considering the possibility of appointing a new ambassador to the USA, namely Minister of Defense Rustem Umierov. He announced this during a press conference on Thursday, July 10.

Zelensky noted that the importance of this step lies in strengthening the relations between Ukraine and the USA, especially during the war.

'Today our entire budget is the war. And therefore, a lot depends on the Ministry of Defense. This is a serious decision. In the current conditions, it is extremely important to strengthen our ties with the USA. Therefore, the person in this position must be strong and well-oriented in the situation'

According to Zelensky, Umierov has the experience and ability to take responsibility in a difficult Time for the country, especially during the war. He is aware that the appointment may provoke criticism, but emphasizes: 'Who else can bear such responsibility in wartime?'.
