Serious threat to Egypt's beaches: ecologists raise alarm.

A conflict is occurring on the shores of the Red Sea in Egypt over Ras Hankorab beach, which is the last untouched marine ecosystem in the country. Replacing this beach with buildings could lead to serious consequences for the ecology. This information was published by the Independent.
Ras Hankorab beach, part of the Wadi el Gemal national park, is known for its untouched marine ecosystem. Currently, this beach is closed, and its future is unresolved. It is located a four-hour drive from Hurghada and attracts visitors with its clear waters and sandy beaches.
Businessmen plan to build a hotel, restaurant, and farm on this beach. However, ecologists warn that such tourism development threatens the existence of turtles, coral reefs, seagrasses, and various fish species. Local residents are also concerned about the loss of this natural reserve.
The Independent questions whether economic development should be prioritized over the preservation of such natural treasures as Ras Hankorab. According to ecologists and local residents, even small construction on the beach could destroy this marine sanctuary of Egypt.
Ras Hankorab beach is home to one of the most valuable coral reefs. There are also sea turtles that are endangered and mangrove trees. This was reported by Asmaa Ali, the executive director of the Egyptian nature conservation organization Ecoris.
The environmental protection association adds that this reef is significant because it is one of the most resilient to climate change in the world and can restore other reefs as well as revive some of them.
Sherif Baha el-Din, co-founder of the Wadi el Gemal national park, emphasizes that tourists seek pristine nature rather than concrete resorts. He calls for this natural area to remain untouched.
It is worth noting that recently Egyptian and American archaeologists discovered a tomb of an unknown pharaoh in the ancient city of Abydos, which was created about 3600 years ago.
