Seoul prepares a plan in case of Trump resuming dialogue with North Korea.

South Korea is preparing for possible negotiations between the new US President Donald Trump and North Korea. South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul announced this during a briefing alongside Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok. They are trying to reassure their international partners after the political crisis in the country.
According to Cho, the political crisis in South Korea has complicated communication with Trump’s team, but the Foreign Ministry is already developing a strategy for possible negotiations. He also noted that the newly elected US president does not ignore North Korea's nuclear issue and South Korea is ready to discuss this topic with him. The minister emphasized the need to respond to North Korea's military cooperation with Russia regarding the war in Ukraine. Choi Sang-mok assured that the government is ready to use all available tools to stabilize the economy and currency market.
South Korea is in a domestic political crisis but is also preparing for possible changes in relations with the US following Trump’s return to power. Trump's team considers direct dialogue with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un an effective way to ease tensions between the states, especially through the personal relationships they established during Trump’s previous presidency. These relations, which were initially tense, over Time led to three personal meetings and became a revolutionary step in relations between the US and North Korea.
