The USA may reconsider its participation in certain UN structures - Kyslytsia.

The Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Serhiy Kyslytsia, believes that under the new administration of the United States of America, cooperation with the UN will continue, but the USA's participation in some structures of the organization may be reconsidered.
He stated this in an interview with Ukrinform.
According to him, it is difficult to predict what the work of American diplomats in the UN will be like after the departure of Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the former US Permanent Representative.
'I think that even in the US mission, there are now few who can say what actions its leadership will take,' Kyslytsia noted.
However, he is convinced that the United States will not turn its back on the UN, as the administration understands that this is the main global platform for security issues.
'The United States plays a special role in the UN due to its permanent membership in the Security Council. They have the opportunity to conduct business daily, protect their position on complex issues of global politics and security through voting and vetoing,' Kyslytsia explained.
On the other hand, the US will likely review its participation and funding of some UN structures, agencies, and organizations.
'This was expected,' the Permanent Representative noted, recalling Trump's criticism of the UN's activities.
Kyslytsia also noted that Trump invited UN Secretary-General Guterres to the White House for a meeting four times, but Biden has not done this.
However, the situation has changed, especially due to Russian aggression against Ukraine and the conflict in the Middle East.
'On Middle Eastern issues, Trump had a clear position that differs from the position of the UN Secretary-General. Let's see how these approaches will come together at the UN platform,' Kyslytsia summarized.
