It became known when Ukraine and Russia will exchange the bodies of fallen soldiers.

The exchange of the bodies of the fallen between Ukraine and Russia has been postponed until next week. Petro Yatsenko, a representative of the Coordination Staff for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, stated that the statements of Russian representatives regarding the beginning of the return of bodies and repatriation do not reflect the real situation after the agreement in Istanbul. Currently, preparations are underway for the exchange of severely ill and seriously wounded individuals, as well as the return of the bodies of fallen soldiers.
“Any unilateral statements or actions by representatives of the aggressor state are yet another manipulation of the sensitive issue of repatriation of our defenders' bodies,” emphasized Petro Yatsenko.
Assistant to the head of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Medinsky, stated that Ukraine ‘unexpectedly postponed’ the exchange of prisoners and the bodies of fallen soldiers. Ukraine denied this and called on the Russian side to stop the ‘dirty games.’ Russian media reported on June 6 about the beginning of the return of the bodies of fallen soldiers, but Ukraine rejected this information as unreliable.
Postponement of the body exchange
Ukraine and Russia decided to postpone the exchange of the bodies of the fallen until next week due to issues regarding the preparation and implementation of agreements after negotiations. Representatives of both countries continue to work on an arrangement for the exchange, which will include not only the return of the bodies of the fallen but also severely ill and seriously wounded servicemen.
