The task is to know the general provisions of traffic rules and the topic of passing intersections. Who among the drivers will pass the intersection first and last in the situation depicted in the image?

The task was proposed by the channel 'For! The Rules'.

Task Analysis

At the intersection, the truck driver and the red car driver are turning left, the tractor driver is going straight, and the driver of the yellow car is turning right.

There are no traffic lights or priority signs at the intersection. But this is not an intersection of equal roads, since the tractor driver and the yellow car driver are coming from unpaved, thus secondary roads, and therefore must yield to the truck and red car which are on the main roads.

Reading paragraph 1.10 of the traffic rules:

“The main road is a road with a surface relative to the unpaved one or one that is marked by priority signs. The presence of a surface on a secondary road directly before the intersection does not equate it in importance to the intersecting one.”

The driver of the red car is obligated to give way to the truck, as it approaches from his right side.

Reading paragraph 16.12 of the traffic rules:

“At an intersection of equal roads, the driver of a non-cargo vehicle must yield to vehicles approaching from the right, except at intersections where roundabouts are organized.”

Thus, the truck will pass first, and the red car second.

According to the same paragraph 16.12, the tractor driver and the yellow car driver will part ways, as they are also on equal but secondary roads. The obstacle to the right is with the tractor driver, so he will pass the intersection last.
