Ukrainians were told whether Christmas and New Year will be holidays.


Despite the ongoing Russian invasion, Ukrainians are preparing for the winter holidays, although this year they will be special due to martial law. Official holidays for Christmas and New Year will be canceled due to security restrictions.
Also, due to the martial law, the procedure for granting days off will change. Traditional holiday dates, December 25 and January 1, will not have the status of official holidays.
Important dates in December
In December 2024, Ukrainians are expecting a number of important events. In particular, December 6 is celebrated as St. Nicholas Day and the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Other professional and memorial days will also be celebrated throughout the month.
It has been officially confirmed that Christmas will be celebrated on December 25 after the Orthodox Church of Ukraine switched to the Revised Julian calendar.
The working day schedule in December will consist of 22 working days and 9 weekends, which will be traditional Saturdays and Sundays. January 2025 will have 8 weekends.
