Former Ukrainian rhythmic gymnast Vlada Nikolechenko made an important statement regarding the defense of the Russian language after the speech of Kateryna Motrych. The wife of a fallen soldier called to 'kill everything Russian in yourself,' and the quote was published by another former gymnast Maria Vysotska.

«You know, I could remain silent, but I will express myself... I speak Ukrainian very well, just like Russian. Yes, I am from Kharkiv, I learned Ukrainian when the war began... But that's not the point...», - said Nikolechenko.

In her statement, Nikolechenko emphasized that the conflict around language can push people away from switching to any language they want to use.

«Let's not point fingers, but this is not the first Time. I unsubscribed from a person - and it became easier for me. I expressed myself. Now, of course, hate will pour in», - added Nikolechenko.
