In India, 219 weightlifters withdrew from competitions after learning about the arrival of doping officers.

More than 200 athletes withdrew from weightlifting competitions in India due to an anti-doping check
219 athletes refused to participate in the weightlifting championship held in Modinagar, India. The reason for this was the arrival of anti-doping agency staff who announced a doping control. This information is reported by Amar Ujala.
519 athletes were registered, but soon 219 withdrew from the competition. This was a consequence of the sudden announcement of doping control before the start of the competition.
It is worth noting that in India, doping testing is usually not conducted at local championships.
During the competition, there was a sudden reduction in participants across different weight categories. In some cases, the competitions took place without any athletes or with only one or two participants.
A similar incident happened earlier at the youth athletics championship
In 2023, the youth athletics championship in Delhi also fell into scandal due to an anti-doping check. As a result of the arrival of doping officers before the final 100-meter men's race, 7 out of 8 participants decided to withdraw from the competition.
Only Lalit Kumar remained at the start, but he was also tested for doping and found to have the banned substance drostanolone, which promotes accelerated metabolism. He was disqualified for 4 years.
