Ukrainian drivers in Germany face fines for "incorrect" numbers: what needs to be done.

Ukrainian drivers in Germany face new fines
Ukrainian refugees residing in Germany and owning cars with Ukrainian plates must comply with new rules that threaten penalties. From September 30, 2024, they need to register their cars according to German law and obtain German license plates. Ukrainians are promised to have this process simplified.
When registering a car, electronic copies of Ukrainian documents cannot be used. It is necessary to present the originals of paper documents, such as an identity card and a vehicle registration certificate.
When mandatory registration takes effect, Ukrainian vehicle documents and plates will become invalid in Germany. Their use will be prohibited.
In case of late car registration, Ukrainian drivers will not face criminal sanctions, but they will have to pay a fine ranging from 70 to 105 euros.
If the driver decides to return to Ukraine after obtaining German plates, they will need to re-register the car with Ukrainian plates. Those who registered their cars in Germany but did not cancel the registration at Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs service centers before leaving can obtain new Ukrainian registration certificates and license plates.
To obtain new documents, it is necessary to contact any service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, pay the relevant fees, and submit an application.
