Ukraine received the first tranche of 1 billion euros from the European Union, which came from the profits of frozen Russian assets. Since the beginning of 2025, thanks to this mechanism, Ukraine has already received over 18.5 billion dollars.

This was reported by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.

Ukraine received another tranche

According to the head of the government, this tranche is a result of the joint initiative ERA with the G7 countries, which aims to use the profits from frozen Russian funds to support Ukraine.

'The initiative ERA, which we started together with the G7, is working. Since the beginning of the year, over 18.5 billion dollars have already been transferred to Ukraine from frozen Russian money. We are directing these funds to Ukraine's resilience and rapid recovery.'
— Denys Shmyhal reported.

During the Ukraine Recovery Conference URC-2025, Denys Shmyhal also urged international partners to jointly develop legal mechanisms for the complete confiscation of frozen Russian assets in the future.

It should be reminded that at the end of June, the United Kingdom announced its willingness to purchase missiles for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the profits of Russian assets.

In the same month, as reported by Politico, the EU was looking for ways to increase profits from Russian assets.

The first tranche from the European Union in the amount of 1 billion euros was transferred to Ukraine. This was made possible by the profits from frozen Russian assets, which the EU is using to support Ukraine. Overall, since the beginning of 2025, Ukraine has received over 18.5 billion dollars under this initiative together with the G7 countries.
